The stock market and the housing market are both suffering more every day, so should the RV owners think about selling? The answer to that question will vary depending on a persons current financial status. Selling an RV now will most likely mean taking a significant loss, so if you can afford to keep making the payments, you might consider waiting for the economy to improve. You really need to consider how much you will pay in monthly payments over the next twelve to twenty four months and compare that to how much you can realistically sell it for.
Many RV owners have financed their RV for a long period of time, while that helped to keep the monthly payments down, it also reduced the amount of principal paid and means that it may not be worth as much as they still owe. Since the RV market has suffered like the housing market, many RV buyers are willing to pay significantly less than owners feel it is worth. The market has also been Flooded with RV’s and that has made it even more of a buyers market.
You can get a feel for what others are asking for the same type of RV by searching the internet. There are many RV Classified web sites that you can search and see what other RV’s that compare to yours are listed for. Remember that what they are listed for and what they will actually sell for can be very different. I would also suggest contacting a Dealer and see what they will offer for your RV. It will undoubtedly be less that you want, but it will give you a starting point to compare to what you find in your searches.
If you are thinking about buying an RV, this is probably the best time to think seriously about it. I continually hear that some homes are selling for half of what they sold for two years ago, and there are RV’s that have done the same thing. However the majority are still selling for considerably more than half, so there are good deals out there, and you have to take your time and search the internet to determine what is really a good deal. Financing may be one of the most difficult obstacles to purchasing an RV, so you might want to talk to a finance company before you get to serious about buying an RV.
